The Story Behind the Stitch

Set against a fine mint-blue woven textile with a subtle vertical texture, this oval barrette is built around two large dimensional roses that cascade vertically down the center of the composition. Their outer petals are rendered in cream and icy blue-white; their centers unfurl in the softest blush-pink, the color of a rose at the very moment it opens. The transition between tones is achieved through a layered silk-thread technique that gives each petal genuine depth and movement.

Surrounding the central roses, four miniature yellow rosebuds are scattered across the surface — each one hand-embroidered in a tight spiral stitch, their petals no larger than a fingernail. Fine needle-stitched foliage in two tones of sage and forest green traces the stems with botanical precision, while a cluster of three pearl beads nestles between the upper leaves like morning dew. Silver-toned rhinestones are placed at intervals — at the crown, at the base, and between the rosebuds — adding a cool, precise sparkle that complements the pale palette without competing with it.
